Something Is Bugging Me

Bugs are Bugging me~~~

I planted pansies in my flower beds a few weeks ago & couldn't wait to see them grow & bloom. But then came ALL THAT RAIN!! I was so sure they would all drown or get washed away...BUT...they survived the rain

They may not survive the bugs...

Every bloom that comes out is getting eaten up by bugs!

I have lots of buds~~~

And lots of bugs~~

Tomorrow will be spent trying to get rid of them.

Pansies are my favorite cute little cold weather flowers!

Bugs~~I am not to fond of~~

Oh Yea ~ It's Carnival Time!

Decorating for Mardi Gras!

My Mardi Gras Decorations are very minimal compared to my Christmas Decorations but it helps to brighten up the house once Christmas is all packed up and put away~

I was really hoping to get out today and shop for a few more Mardi Gras items but~~~IT'S ABOUT TO STORM HERE!!

Here are a few of the Mardi Gras decorations I have up right now.

My son was in the Perseus Parade in Slidell for 2 years.
This pic is from his second year~~It was a cold parade day!

This pic of my son & my niece was from the very first Mardi Gras parade that my son was in.
We use to have a neighborhood Mardi Gras parade and he was the King one year!

This pic is from the second parade he was in at his school. First graders got to decorated hats and march in the school parade.

Smaller round pic is from the first Perseus Parade and the bigger pic is when he and a few of his friends
went to see another friend when she was the reigning queen in one of the bigger Mardi Gras Krews.

King & Queen Crowns

King Fairy

Mischief Doll

A few more Mardi Gras Decorations in the bookcase.

Tied Mardi Gras ribbon around my flameless candles.

A Mardi Gras Fleur de Lis painted by a local artist.

Here are the girls from last year's Krewe De Paws parade.

Sabrina~Ha! Can you tell I have a treat for her in my hand!

She had lots of fun!

And here is Gracie~enjoying the day!

It almost looks like she is dancing here!

I ordered some vintage Mardi Gras postcards from ebay. Not sure what I'm gonna do with them yet but
I thought it would be a fun thing to have!

I would love to pick up a few more Mardi Gras Decorations. Maybe a few more items by local artist~~

Do you decorate for Mardi Gras?

Which parades are your favorites?

Oh Yea It's Carnival Time and Everybody's Having Fun!!

Something to Brighten Things Up

Flowers to brighten up my day~~~

It never fails~~as soon as Christmas is all packed up and put away my house seems gloomy!

This year I did something about it!!

FLOWERS!! And lots of them!

I went to Sam's to do a little shopping...well a lot of shopping because you can't do a little shopping at Sam's!!

I bought 2 BIG bouquets of mixed flowers~~~

Here are some pics:

These red flowers where actually purchased the Sunday before Christmas!!!

I love sending my husband to the grocery store because sometimes he comes back with a small bouquet of flowers!!

He bought these red flowers the Sunday before Christmas!! I know that for sure because I was cooking Gumbo and needed something from the store and he picked these up for me while he was there. This picture was taken YESTERDAY!!!!!

We can't believe that they have stayed so pretty for so long!!

I'll be putting out my Mardi Gras decorations out in a couple of days but for now the flowers are brightening my days!!

What do you do to un-gloom your house after the holidays?

Baking for the Holidays Part 3

Cocoons~~

I've saved the best for last!!

Ingredients

1 cup butter

1 tbsp. water
1 tsp. vanilla
3 tbsp. sugar

2 cups flour

1 1/2 cups pecans, chopped

Cream butter, add sugar, water & vanilla. Blend well.
Mix in flour. Add pecans.
(And one more time with the happy face!!)
One spoon of mix rolls into size & shape of "cocoons" or peanut shape.
Bake on cookie sheet at 350 degrees for 15 minutes.

Roll in powdered sugar

Here is the finished product! Minus a few cocoons from my husband & son eating them up!!

These are incredible!!
And so easy to make~~
Enjoy~~
